Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Boundary Review.

DEADLINE: 20th April 2018

Natural England has today (26 January 2018) launched a consultation into our proposal to extend the boundary of the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (SC&H AONB).  It will run for 12 weeks from 26th January 2018 to 20th April 2018. We are inviting you to respond as an organisation which may be interested in the proposals for the AONB.

We would like to hear the views of your organisation about whether it considers that the proposed extension meets the statutory natural beauty criterion, whether it is desirable that it should be designated as an extension and, if so, where the boundaries should be drawn.  If you wish to provide additional information we would be particularly grateful if you could do so using the headings and question numbers on the response form wherever possible in order to assist us in addressing your response effectively.

A formal response to this consultation can be made by completing the on-line response form (at or you can request a consultation pack by emailing the project mailbox sc& or by contacting one of the project officers named below.  The on line consultation platform contains all the background documents regarding Natural England’s role with regard to the designation of AONBs plus the detailed technical assessments that we have undertaken.  We will also be providing folders containing these documents for reference in Ipswich, Harwich and Manningtree libraries, at the SC&H AONB office and at the Natural England offices at Norwich and Cambridge from Monday 29th January and at the meeting and events referred to below.

We are currently organising a briefing meeting for special interest groups (recreation & conservation groups) to be held on Tuesday 13th February at the Venture Centre, Lawford, near Manningtree (10am – 12noon).  If you or a representative of your organisation would like to attend please could you confirm by emailing:
